A New Voice in the Dugout: Bucaneros Welcome Adrian Lugo as Manager

AGUADILLA, PR — The Puerto Rico Collegiate Summer Baseball League (PRCSBL) announced the appointment of Adrian Lugo as the new manager of the Bucaneros, bringing a rising collegiate coach with a strong development-first philosophy and firsthand playing experience to lead the club in the upcoming season.
Lugo, a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, currently serves as Pitching Coach at Daytona Beach Christian University (NCCAA), where he is in his first year on the collegiate coaching staff. His arrival at the PRCSBL comes at a strategic moment, as he looks to guide the Bucaneros while also identifying and developing players who aspire to compete at the collegiate level and beyond.
A former four-year collegiate player at Wilson College (NCAA Division III), Lugo built his foundation as both a student-athlete and a leader. He served as team captain during his final two seasons, helping sustain a competitive program and developing the leadership traits that now define his approach in the dugout.
While his technical specialization is pitching, Lugo’s coaching philosophy extends beyond mechanics. His focus is on developing complete players, emphasizing discipline, preparation, accountability, and character. His path through the game—shaped by adversity and the need to consistently prove himself—has influenced the culture he seeks to establish with the Bucaneros.
“I coach with passion, accountability, and purpose,” Lugo said. “My goal is to create an environment where players are challenged, supported, and motivated to grow, not only as athletes, but as leaders and teammates. When preparation meets belief, opportunity follows.”
In addition to his collegiate coaching role, Lugo remains active as a player with the Patrulleros de San Sebastián in Puerto Rico’s Doble A Baseball League and has competed in professional-style events such as the Coastal Baseball Classic, sharing the field with established professional and high-level independent players.
His dual perspective as both an active competitor and an emerging collegiate coach positions him as a valuable mentor for players seeking summer development, structure, and long-term opportunities at the collegiate level.
With Lugo at the helm, the Bucaneros enter a new chapter under leadership centered on work ethic, preparation, and opportunity, continuing the PRCSBL’s mission of providing a competitive environment where players can be evaluated, developed, and prepared for the next stage of their baseball careers.
Players interested in joining the Bucaneros and becoming part of Coach Adrian Lugo’s program for the upcoming season are invited to complete the official Prospective Player Interest Form and indicate “Bucaneros” in the comments section.
