Registration Now Open for the 2027 Puerto Rico Development Summer Baseball League

AGUADILLA, PUERTO RICO — The Puerto Rico Development Summer Baseball League (PRDSBL) has officially opened registration for its 2027 season, offering high school and collegiate baseball players an opportunity to compete, develop their skills, and prepare for the next level in Puerto Rico. With open enrollment, no tryout or invitation required, and just 126 roster spots available, the league is welcoming eligible athletes seeking a competitive and structured summer baseball experience.

Scheduled for June 22 through July 19, 2027, the program will take place at Luis A. "Canena" Márquez Stadium in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The upcoming season will feature seven teams with 18 players per roster, creating an environment that provides meaningful playing opportunities, individualized development, and competitive wood-bat baseball.

The league is open to current college players with remaining eligibility, incoming first-year college students, 2027 high school graduates, and rising seniors in the Class of 2028. Unlike invitation-only summer programs, PRDSBL allows eligible players to begin the registration process directly, removing one of the traditional barriers to accessing organized summer baseball opportunities.

More than a summer competition, PRDSBL is designed to connect player development with meaningful game experience. The program emphasizes skill refinement, baseball fundamentals, physical preparation, and the competitive demands athletes can expect as they advance through their baseball careers.

Pitchers will benefit from a development approach incorporating protocols from the National Pitching Association (NPA), founded by renowned pitching coach Tom House. These principles emphasize pitching mechanics, arm health, recovery, and sustainable performance, reinforcing the league's commitment to preparing athletes for continued development beyond the summer season.

College recruiting and player evaluation are also important components of the PRDSBL experience. Through its collaboration with NB Scouting and the Prospect On-Deck Showcase, scheduled for June 25–26, the league aims to help participating athletes better understand their development needs and pursue opportunities to be evaluated for college baseball.

The 2027 program begins with player arrivals on June 22, followed by evaluations on June 23–24. The Prospect On-Deck Showcase will take place June 25–26 before regular-season competition begins June 27. Teams will compete through July 14, followed by postseason play from July 15–17. Player departures are scheduled for July 19.

Games will be played Monday through Saturday, with scheduled start times of 9:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., providing a consistent competitive environment throughout the season.

Beyond the field, participants will experience Puerto Rico's baseball culture while developing independence, discipline, and relationships with athletes from different backgrounds. The program also offers an all-inclusive participation option with housing in Rincón and organized transportation, allowing visiting players to concentrate on their summer baseball experience.

For athletes transitioning from high school to college, preparing for another collegiate season, or seeking additional competitive experience, PRDSBL offers an opportunity to continue developing in an environment focused on preparation, competition, and long-term growth.

The opening of registration reflects PRIBL's broader commitment to making structured baseball development more accessible to athletes pursuing their goals.

"Our goal is to create an environment where players can compete, develop, and continue pursuing opportunities at the next level. We believe access to quality baseball development should not depend solely on receiving an invitation," said Carlos Núñez, Founder and President of PRIBL.

With participation limited to 126 players, interested athletes and families are encouraged to complete the initial pre-registration form. This allows the PRDSBL staff to review player information, contact families directly, answer questions, and explain available participation options.

Pre-registration is free and does not require a commitment to participate. Submitting the form does not reserve or guarantee a roster spot.
