Rincon, PR – Orlando Ortiz, a former Puerto Rico Collegiate Summer Baseball League player, has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ortiz joins the Dodgers organization after two successful years with Troy University, where he appeared in 19 games, including 17 as a starter. He ended with an 8-5 record with a 4.13 ERA and struck out 106 batters in 96 innings. His strikeout-to-walk ratio was 2.65 during the two years he played at Troy University.

“We are very proud of Orlando,” said Carlos Nuñez, the president and founder of the Puerto Rico Collegiate Summer Baseball League. “One more time, it is demonstrated that you can earn a chance to play professional baseball when you work hard.”

Ortiz inked the contract on August 3, 2021, and he will debut this season. He has been assigned to the team of Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the Single-A team of the Dodgers.
